NetBSD 3.1, 4.0.1 and 5.2 HDFs for testing

I have created test hardfiles for NetBSD versions 3.1, 4.0.1 and 5.2. You can boot them and start X using the latest WinUAE beta and either A3000/040 or A4000/040 configs. They should also work with 68030+FPU configs.

There are installed HDFs which were created on A3000/040 and A4000/040 configs. If using an A4000 config (IDE hard disk) use the A4000-installed HDF. (There is probably a way to get A3000-installed HDFs to work on A4000 configs by using the correct boot options, but I don't know how to do that. If you boot an A3000-installed HDF on an A4000/IDE config you get an error message about the root device.)

There are also pre-installation HDFs which you can use yourself to install the OS; download the corresponding NetBSD/Amiga ISO image and put it in the emulated CD-ROM drive. The pre-installation HDF archives are much smaller than the fully-installed archives.

NetBSD 4.0.1 and 5.2 can be successfully installed on an A3000/030/noFPU config. The installed system boots and you can start X. However on the same config, the NetBSD 3.1 installer fails at the creating filesystems stage. Booting the pre-installed NetBSD 3.1 HDF on A3000/030/noFPU, the boot sequence hangs for a long time after printing Updating motd. Eventually it prints:

awk in malloc(): error: brk(2) failed [internal error]
[1]   Abort trap (code dumped) awk "/^sendmail[...

then continues to the login prompt. You can run startx at that point, which results in a white screen then X exits back to the console. I don't know whether that's a bug in the NetBSD 3.1 FPU emulation code or in WinUAE.
