DVI Confusion ?

I will soon have an Indivision AGA Mk2 board which is DVI-I out, the monitor I was going to use has a DVI-D port, if compatable which DVI cable do I need to get ?

The port in the back of the monitor looks like a Dual Link.

The more I read about it the more confused I get because some say one thing and some say another.

Most sellers just call them DVI cables.

Get a DVI-D <-> DVI-D cable and adjust the output setting accordingly (VGA off, only DVI) in the Indivision config tool.

For further information, the naming conventions for DVI are:

DVI-A is a DVI connector using just analogue (basically VGA) signals

DVI-D is a DVI connector using just digital signals (similar to HDMI and DisplayPort)

DVI-I is a DVI connector that integrates both analogue and digital signals on the one connector.

DVI-I is used on the Indivision so it can offer both digital and analogue signals through the one connector. Using a DVI-D cable will let you use the digital signal. Using a DVI-A cable (or DVI-A to VGA adaptor) will let you use the analogue signal. The socket will likely have all the pins for dual link operation, but I don't think it will make use of them.
