Keep it. Something is wrong with your Amiga but it's still that awesome machine from the past.

WAIT! that happend to me too, when i "revived" my A1200, i placed some old floppies in it, the floppie drive jammed, and stopped formating disks.
You can try to use a cleanning disk, and you dont really need the drive much, i only used it to install OS 3.1 and the CF to PCMCIA adapter "driver", from that point on i only use the CF Adapter to play WHDLOAD Games and to transfer files from pc to Amiga. |

Just checking, but the disks you are trying to format are Double Density 720K right? Not HD 1.44!

Is it happening on the internal disk drive? Have you tried an external drive?

Try Xcopy if you can, i had better results than normal Format command in WB 3.1, Xcopy in the "Format OS Disk" ( if i remember correctly) and enable the "verify" option.

I´m not sure, im running out of options mate, maybe there is something wrong with the power going to your FD Drive, lower voltage may reduce drive writting reliability. But í´m not really too sure about this...

Thats not the psu, it may be the capacitators inside your A1200 mobo power distribution, the only way to check it would be with a multimeter. The power cable connecting to your FDD must register +12 and -5 volts, but as i said , im not sure about this, there may be other variables left to explore.

Less voltage, slower "motor" rotations, lower writting accuracy. Maybe someone else as a better idea.
