Sega mega drive joypads
What's the difference between the pads with the white button and the ones with the red button?
Which one is best for the Amiga? |

You mean the official pads? There is no region lock for this controllers though, e.g. you can use a Europe pad on a US console. All pads should work on the Amiga too.
Red = Europe (1993- xxxx) Blue = Japan White = US and old Europe pads (1989-1993) Last edited by Retro-Nerd; 07 January 2016 at 17:20. |

The first one is a fake. The second pad could be the cheaper Sega 6 button official pad. Probably made for the Genesis 3. This is the correct one. Can't find an offer on eBay UK atm.

I recommend the old white button ones. Their shape is slightly different and I think better.
Some of the red button ones are also with the same shape though. The blue button ones are the ones I generally avoid. That second pad is definitely fake. Get the first one Retronerd posted, that's a good one. |

Yeah both the first gen grey button US ones and the red button EU ones are the ones to go for. The blue button ones have slightly more protruding buttons and the difference in the shape pisses me off.
I have had my grey button US model since 1993 and it's still working like the first day, after all those years of heavy use!!! It's a controller to keep for life unless you are a brute who likes to smash things on the ground :P |
