Custom workbench disks... possible ?

Hi

Is it possible to customize the Workbench 3.1 install disks to include the 060 libraries from http://phase5.a1k.org/ ? I'd be doing this on a copy of the relevant disk(s) rather than my originals.

At the moment I am Swapping in my 030, installing 3.1 and then putting the new libs in .... and then installing my 060. Failing the custom job is there a way to build the OS with an 060 in place rather than having to swap hardware?

cheers

Andrew

There is not enough space on the disk to copy the 68060 libs. But you can at least replace 68040.library by the dummy lib, so that the Amiga successfully boots from the disk. You can copy the other libs after installation.

I can see no reason why not, but as mentioned. Space on the floppy disks is a real hurdle.

With clever use of archivers like LHA or LZX, a rewrite of the installation scripts, and maybe reorganising some of the directory structure. You *might* be able squeeze it all in there. Or maybe just make another disk (or two) for the 060 libraries and modify the install script to copy those files also.

You could maybe even have options for various HW in the install script, but that's up to you.

ALSO

Most serious Amiga users make themselves a boot/recovery disk (or two, as needed) with all the libraries and apps needed to get everything working.

(Disksalv and a Directory util + system files)
A stripped back OS with only the essential files.

I guess this is where you would...

But of course you cannot fit much in 880Kb, so it's strictly essential files.
