Question About Setting Up FTP
I have many games and applications that I'd like to share. I may be the last person that have them who knows?
Question is which FTP server should I use. (using a PC) And my connection is slow only 1024-256 adsl. Last edited by ancalimon; 05 July 2007 at 12:17. |

I always found bulletproof to be a good FTP server, but realistically your upload is really quite slow so it may be quite painful for people trying to download stuff.

If you allow only private accounts and only 1 person connected at a time it might be useful
Ignore KG.. all FTP's are welcomed |

RaidenFTPD is by far the best. Mines running at around 160gig now. But mines down due to an ISP change

I said it would be painful, I didn't say "don't do it"
I used to have an FTP with 256kb upload myself so I know how difficult it can be. You have to limit people quite a bit otherwise you cripple your own downloads/net connection. |

Most people have a max connection now which is 448kbps upload Roughly 58kb/s which is faster then a 512k connection. In the UK that is. People on cable 20meg lines or even 8meg lines have over a meg upload. But yeah KG is right your upload is pretty slow so your own downloads will suffer badly

unfortunately adsl came to Turkey a little bit late. I'll change my connection to 2048-512 in two weeks. So it will be much better I think

Cool!
Give one of those FTPs a try then and we'll test it for ya If GuildFTP is free then that sounds like a good starting point. |

Well most routers which is what I guess you mean normally have port 21 open as standard. But I suggest using a different port as some and I say some ISP's throttle that port.

85.105.77.8 is the adress
user:amiga pass:rulez port:21 It has a limit of two connections max. this is just testing the ftp. It will stay for a few hours. Included is a dated whdload directory i found in the hdd with some rare games and old slaves. Is it working? |

A lot of people have been raving about 'FileZilla Server' if you use Windows? You could try that. It's free and I think it's open-source too.

Ah yeah FileZilla, I use the client but I've never tried the server software.
I think the core of the FileZilla server is used on most homebrew XBox software to enable you to FTP in to the XBox. It's been pretty reliable for me so far |
