IF there is a CDTV version floating around on P2P it'll be a homemade version... like Parasol Stars.

CDTV was a dead format before Elfmania appeared, if anything, CD32 would be more likely.

Why couldnt Streetfighter 2 on the Amiga have had Parralax floors like the ones in Elfmania. They said it couldnt be done, and yep, again the coders that took the effort proved them wrong again.

If the Amiga would been 'active' today, I'm sure games like Streetfighter2 with the parralax floors would have been released long ago.... along with other stunning 'never to be seen' games....

I think the Amigas full potential was never used/discovered, coding techniques and stuff can always become better....

Elfmainia is waaay slower and the controls are a joke in comparison, esp the "short fast" moves.

The genesis conversion made me cry like a baby, I felt like someone had cheated and given me the atari version on amiga.
Times where hard back then

Yeah Elfmania was not the better game out of the 2. Streetfighter on the Amiga was far better gameplay wise and control wise, but of course SF2 was a crap conversion graphics wise & thats where Elfmania excelled.

And yes, the Amiga version did look and sound like an ST game. oh those were hard times i do agree!..

Wouldn't it be nice to have the source code for Elfmania released? Imagine what could be done if the game could be reprogrammed to make full use of an AGA Amiga with twice the memory of the A500 and a CD32 control pad. Maybe make the fighters all a bit more evenly matched, have more special moves, take away the whole collecting money/buying fighters thing. Just keep the awesome engine and graphics, make the characters less floaty, add better controls and more special moves, and a standard character selection screen. Stick it on a CD, or make it hard drive installable (not a patch like WHDLoad, but true installation). It'd have the potential to be so much better and popular.

I would rather have Street Fighter 2 redone with the Shadow Fighters engine.

bumping up another old thread.. yeah, forget seeing any future versions of elfmania. Even though I could get permission to go and rip the source code it would be useless to you. I've seen it and it's a total mess, ultra-hyper-psycho-optimized spaghetti full of totally obscure comments (or no comments at all) which even the programmer probably couldn't remember.
Also the game itself is so optimized to the max that I seriously doubt you could change a bit without experiencing serious problems. You'd have to reprogram the Ai (which is a neural net btw). The brits who tried to convert it to the PC never made it. there is no documentation on how it works. its impossible. dont try to do it. you'll go mad

Yea, it was called street fighter II snes/megadrive

Ok, enough amiga bashing from me, celebrate IK+ instead. All of the above, esp tight controls and gameplay.
