I remember when I first completed this game I printed out the certificate of course, it's a picture file on the disk.
Why not load a saved game at the very end before you enter the big bad mountain and wonder off and die and get your next brother to pick up your goodies and way you go to find the answer!
I found the wand was far easiest of dispatching the evil one
