I was under impression that the processor power of PCEmu was enough for most DOS games?
I've used VM for DOS. I wasn't aware of MIDI issue as it can run MIDI within Windows interface. Maybe it needs Soundblaster drivers configuring?
I recall my old PC having a specific autoexec.bat that it ran when it went into DOS mode that would configure soundcard for DOS. Maybe something similar would help?
