There's a world between having a basic yet functional WB, and customizing to the extreme like some EAB dudes do.
Furthermore, you're not even pointing at an emulated one.
Same goes with Windows, I guess. While some people don't even bother changing Windows's default screen saver, others would visually modify their desktop with advanced shell replacements which would make it unrecognizable (LiteStep...); And if you installed those by yourself, that would make your desktop appaling and completely unusable .
You would put a lot of effort into it for a neglectable marginal gain in usability. I know some people hate it when I speak this way, because they think I am trying to get you to do things my way (OS 3.9...), but believe me it's not the case.
