When copying a file with the original time/datestamp from an original disk to another disk which originally contained the same file but which now has a modified time/datestamp and overwriting it in the process, the destination disk's FAT will only be changed in a way consistent with restoring it to its original status. I am confident of this, having recently carried out a similar disk recovery task.
