Hmm, not sure if everyone here understood each other, so I guess just for the sake of redundancy, I'll offer an answer too:
- yes, usb -> rs232 adapters work most of the time, some of the cheapest ones are not fully compatible with all rs232 devices.
- you will need a null modem cable in addition to the usb -> rs232 adapter.
