For this last one, did you noticed it has on disk 1 the protoscan longtrack protection? This in track 79.
It doesnt initialise at the start, so I guess a routine for checking is triggered later. I pmed you.

Didn't know the protection track was protoscan, but it is the same protection used in many Gremlin based games. In the disk-analysis world it is labeled as gremlin_longtrack
Excerpt from Keir's protection code
/* TRKTYP_gremlin_longtrack: Lotus I/II, + many others
* u16 0x4124,0x4124
* Rest of track is (MFM-encoded) zeroes, and/or unformatted garbage.
* The contents are never checked, only successive sync marks are scanned for.
*
* Track is checked to be >= 102400 bits long.
* Specifically, protection checks for >= 6400 raw words between
* successive sync marks. Track contents are not otherwise checked or tested.
*
* Track is typically ~105500 bits long. */
As for the confused....how to tell if you have a different version of a game than that which has been preserved as an official IPF.
