Well, I have finished the repair and checked all connections to the 74LS244N. All is good.
However, I got the DREADED BLACK SCREEN OF DEATH.
Is it likely that this is caused by other corrosion near the battery, or is it terminal? What I'm trying to ask is, given the position of the battery, is it likely a corroded track could kill it totally, or might I expect it to go some way through the boot process?
The 244N is connected to another chip of similar size and DATA PATH is printed on the PCB. The same pair of chips appear right next to it. What are they actually for?
