I think the CARE forum could be the right place for it. I can move the thread if you want.
For the first information you can have a look at my little homepage.
I will do something similar with Pirates! in the near future. I think it's the same principle. Just one big map containing "bricks" of gfx.
Maybe I will have a look on Exile later but I'm busy at the moment. Indeed it's a funny game...
