    No, because it would cause programs which rely on Blitter timing to misbehave in seemingly unpredictable ways.

If programs used the Blitter in OS compatible ways this would have chances of working better but with games banging the hardware without much respect for rules set in the Hardware Reference Manual this would very likely cause many of them to misbehave rather than speed up.
