Two options
1) HDD hot swap, use the xbox to lock the drive using the key and one of the many lock / unlock utils. If you're not careful you might leave your original drive unlocked and be unable to use your xbox until it is locked again
2) There is a
bootable CD/USB image which contains a version of linux that will boot, and has all the linux tools required to lock/unlock hard drives. But you need a motherboard with a PATA connector.
