and it said that it was copied successfully, but the computer froze. On reboot nothing happens. I have to cycle the power to get it to boot again. I have 3.1 roms and the jumper is open.

You say it says "copied successfully", but adding >NIL: will hide all messages from acatune.
Try without >NIL:, so you can see the error message if any.
