I have got an A4000D with CSPPC + CVPPC + 128MB RAM + X-Surf network card + 20GB HDD + DVD-ROM drive in the standard desktop case and I have no problems with the ROM update of BB2.
I also have another A4000D with a CSPPC in a tower case which had the CVPPC before without problems and now it has a Meditor + Voodoo3 and still no problems.
How big is your HDD and how is it divided into partitons ?
