Not possible, tried it some minutes ago and it worked fine. Have you tried this version? Use the "Amiga 500" quickstart setting and choose Kickstart 1.2.

Academy - Tau Ceti II (1988)(CRL Group)[cr QTX][KS1.2]

Try the latest WinUAE Beta too.
