I'm not 100% clear on this, but if memory serves me correctly, I believe that the variants of Windows that are based on the NT kernel to some extent put up barriers to prevent devices from being accessed at a very low level (in the name of security). If that is the case, then that is probably the reason that disk2fdi doesn't work with NT, Win2K or XP (since they're all based on the NT kernel). That might mean that there won't ever be a version of disk2fdi that works with those Windows versions unless someone figures out a way to bypass those barriers. I won't say that it won't ever happen, because we once thought it would never be possible to read an Amiga diskette with a standard PC floppy controller, and we all know that proved to be wrong.
