Amiga ports of Unix software are usually a complete crap, slow as hell, they require huge stack, lots of memory, and they often don't work well with the system - I avoid them as I only can.

NetPBM is not a good choice too: -font selects a font that you supply yourself either as an X Window System BDF (Bitmap Distribution Format) file or as a PBM file in a special form - I don't use BDF or PBM fonts, I use either Amiga format fonts or (sometimes) TrueType fonts, installed using ttflib.
