Maybe you guys are using ClassicWB with fblit ON and so the glitches don't appear ?
Can you test without fblit and my screen resolution ?
I think its up to you, if you want a definitive solution. I would forget about software solutions and would try the bridge. I think FBlit only will make to use less ram, but at the same time I think it uses it over the 4mbs (just my idea with my problems with the Hawk). Surely some program will use more ram and under them.
