Sorry, I should have specified that I meant playing the actual CD rather than a rip of it. You could drop back into the system, send a play/stop command to the CD-ROM, and then jump back into the game.
I'm not suggesting that it would be ideal, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I didn't realise that, I assumed the playback was handled by the OS. I guess the CD32 must have a custom rom in addition to the kickstart.
