I've not played this game, so I can't comment on it directly, but highest level/lowest score is a really useful scoring system for games when score leeching is an issue. Risky Woods (played in 2013) is a great example of this, but we used it as recently as SotB II last year to good effect.
While it may affect the playability of certain games, it can sometimes be the only effective way of scoring a round that has this problem.
