If your drive is mounted as CD0: then yes, it should be the correct way

Hmmm, have you tried making a copy of a WORKING cd ??? Maybe the SCSI CDrom is not very good in reading CD-Rs ???

Or try burning in Mode 2 + Joliet, that way all of the CDFS on Amiga should be able to read the CD
