What IDE do you use? I've only used Keil for STM32, but for hobby stuff it's too expensive. The CubeMX stuff is okay, I have not used the USB stack but the other peripheral libraries are "adequate".

I'm using Atollic TrueSTUDIO; it is a bit tricky first times to setup a coherent environment, but after a few experiences it is quite adequate for small/hobby projects.


Beware of CubeMX self-generated code, it is often bugged as hell and you'll lost lots of time following glitches buried in (frankly) too many levels of abstraction.
