I'm just about to start Bard's Tale III Remastered. Finished up Bard's Tale I Remastered about a month ago, then started Bard's Tale II Remastered, was steamrolling this difficult game with a well-optimized party including two archmages when suddenly... I lost my saves when I did an Acronis restore and forgot to back them up. But I really wanted to play BT III because of its greater emphasis on story. Michael Cranford was great at dungeon crawler game design but terrible at storytelling. I tried to play Bard's Tale 3 on the C64 many years ago but it was too ugly and annoying, having just played the great Dragon Wars a few weeks earlier. You can't go back from that.
