I don't trust cloud storage too when talking of sensible/personal data.
A solution can be WinRAR or 7zip or similar utilities: you can compress and password-encrypt the data before uploading, but it's time-consuming if files are very large. And not so practical.
Also, free cloud storage is not so big (max 25 GB?).
I prefer local storage, with mirror backups and each copy kept in different places (in case of fire or thiefs etc.)
