Thinking the unthinkable - getting a pc

I've been an Amiga user since 1987 and my 1200/060 Voodoo3 is still my main computer, but I've decided to get a "stinking" pc which would become my main computer.

Its really because I can't enjoy things like Youtube, various websites and now IBrowse doesn't seem to display the "Buy Now" button on Amazon. I'd also like to try some home recording and video things - and certainly some games.

I've been looking at various hardware options, and I seem to have moved (or been moved) towards the following sort of spec:

CPU: AMD PHENOM II X2 545 3.0 GHz
Motherboard: ASUS M4N78: DUAL DDR2
Graphics card: 1GB NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800GT

Does that sound sensible for a bit of gaming etc and general stuff and not wanting to upgrade soon?

Also, will that be okay in a normal case, or will I need something with lots of fans built in?

Thanks for any thoughts.
