Never heard of tvpaint until I saw this post a few days ago. It very quickly became one of my favorite paint programs as I can adjust the drawing page to something smaller/larger than my screen resolution easily (if that can be done in digipant/personal paint, I have yet to figure it out). Plus, it also seems to support my cybervision card.
And there is a linux version of tvpaint
