PS1 graphics were always rough and today they are even worse when viewed on a modern monitor/TV. Notable exceptions of course, the Gran Turismo games looked quite alright for example if you ignore the PS1 integer math popping.

I remember almost not playing Silent Hill 1 even back then because it looked like a mess; sluggish framerate, everything hidden behind fog, really excessive integer math popping and aliasing, tank controls... Thank god I pushed through that because it became one of my system favorites and one of the few games I'd boot up my PS2 for again (since it can play PS1 games just fine).

But besides that... I'll play a modern re-release on PC (such as Crash Bandicoot or Final Fantasy 7/8/9) or I just leave it as a happy memory
