Didn't check the source yet, I just assembled(!)  it and uploded the binary as I was still at work. 
I think "lame" is a bit harsh, IMHO it's old-fashioned style but I wouldn't call it lame. Quite 1988/89 like (logo, effect, scroller) design.
I just checked it here and I think it's quite OK for a first demo! I've seen much worse! |
I didn't say the demo was lame, I said the design was lame, as most typical crap was in 1987... though obviously the plasma was very un-1987
