Electronic parts, especially programmables tend to be quite high in price and not due to their initial pricing from the companies that produce them.
It's the suppliers that put an excessive mark up on things and that's where you can be stung. I have many feelers out for anything going cheap to snap up where I can.
Design work is difficult too, many man hours and making sure you haven't overlooked something before it goes to fabrication. Also assembly of the boards, double sided and BGA, now that's where it gets expensive.
I would bet that the Kryoflux blokes are making about 10 Euros per board as profit.
People, be grateful that new hardware is still being produced at all for such an old machine.
