I'd skip the Amiga theme if I were you, it makes the game look less inspired and more like the plethora of "Tux Racer" or "Tux Mario" games for Linux.
You can have my old AMOS map editor and loading routines if you want. I think it might fit a Pokemon clone quite well since it was intended for a Zelda clone.
