Does this get updated via software director? SD says I'm up to date but nothing says R2.

EDIT: yes, it looks like Software Director does in fact update to R2.

Looking at the website:

"Amiga Forever 7 "R2" Released
04 Mar 2018 15:07:02 UT
Amiga Forever 7 "R2" (7.2.5.0) released, consolidating eight months of development work and beta updates."

And checking AF7 Help/About - my installed version is the same 7.2.5.0 - so I'm up to date already
