Lot of games have long loading times and you cant do much there without risking to break them completely. Why not simple as in mame, you press key and emulator start running game fast as your cpu can do, and you press it again to get back to normal when you are done. Maybe like floppy speed , you can set desired percent of speedup, from 10% till 800% or unlimited
