You sure can play realplayer files in it, quicktime too (google RealPlayer Alternative and Quicktime Alternative respectively, they should be the ones at the top of the list)
Basically I play ALL my video through Media Player Classic and all my audio through Winamp and I've never had a single crash/lockup (well that's possibly a lie, but its pretty stable all the same
)
