Do you mean using real PCI boards via busboard emulation?

I don't think it is possible to have low level enough access to slots on any modern OS with memory protection and hardware abstraction. Without writing OS-specific drivers first. No one wants to do that.

Nothing interesting for me, I don't see any use for this in emulation, there is nothing that is really required and it is much easier to fully emulate whole board. Connecting hardware emulation (non-realtime) and fast hardware with its own clock (hard-realtime) is far from trivial.
