I've just succeeded in installing Amix and upgrading it to 2.1c with the release version WinUAE 2.6.0, not the beta. I followed the instructions at
The Very Unofficial Commodore Amiga UNIX (AMIX) Wiki | WinUAE Installation and it took a while, but got there in the end. Hopefully other people will have success with Amix and WinUAE, so that falling back to 2.6.0 beta 9 isn't necessary.
