Just ignore the reviews I guess; youtube has become "the voice of the entire world" much like blogs used to be when they were popular; to me that means that about 75% of the content on it is going to be utter drivel made by dumb people who refuse to actually apply thought. Blogs were only text, youtube is much worse.

I subscribe only to very specific people that I know deliver good quality videos, and my list of subscriptions slowly builds because I come into contact with other content creators that are related to the ones I am already subscribed to. Through that path alone I've now built a nice list of people who review or let's play both old and new games and also AAA and niche titles. That's a very pleasant way to experience youtube. Finding worthwhile stuff through a regular topic search has become a very unpleasant thing to do indeed :/
