Maybe a hybrid approach involving the CPU for writing small circles and blitter area fill for large might work. CPU needs to do perspective/circle edge calculations. Using MULs and DIVs makes that almost free when the blitter is running concurrently.
Still, I don't think there's enough time per frame to do this.
But thats an immediate waste of valuable time when predrawn circles would make the process far quicker.
If you look at the screen, only a few at a time ever get to full size in comparison to how many are on screen.
