I tried Gods, I think this will sound better with the LAPC-1/CM-32L... the in-game sound effects were pretty bad using the MT-32.

Yes, I'd love to have one of those as well.
However, Dosbox SVN builds fix the buffer overflow issue in most cases by including a new option you can put in the config file, delaysysex.
Even without an SVN build, it is most often fixed by decreasing CPU cycles while the game is loading up.
Also - I love the MT-32 display panel
Too bad that's missing on the CM-32L.
