The GUS came with a piece of software called Mega-Em which emulated the MT-32, LAPC-I, Roland Sound Canvas and Sound Blaster. Thanks to the very high quality of the patches (instruments) available for the GUS, it often sounded even better than the actual hardware!

It still amazes me that it did not become the standard for sound cards back in the DOS days.
