I'm waiting for my CDTV bits to arrive so today I tried to pull it apart to see what was inside. I even used some car scratch remover and polish to tidy it up, looks really good now. I couldn't get the main board out (more like couldn't be bothered to unplug every ribbon cable and undo the many many screws)

No surprises in the way of upgrades or mods inside but it was very clean inside, hardly any dust, which is strange for a 20 year old machine.

However the power cable for the case fan was not connected, this is probably why it is so clean.

I'm guessing that it was removed by someone to reduce noise.

Now I'm thinking whether the fan is necessary for "safe" running of the CDTV

It would be good to Keep it turned off as its quieter.
