For AmigaDos disks you can simply try and create an ADF of the disk. If it fails, the disk is on it's way to the great disk heaven in the sky.

You could use any old utility that verifies (my old Tracktool program does but many others must also work) by writing the ADF straight back to the disk. The verify option will write the data then read it back and ensure it matches.
