Yes, CF (and SD) cards can be used via adapters in the PCMCIA slot and, because the A1200 has an IDE controller, CF cards can even be used as hard drives via a CF to IDE 44-pin adapter.

When a CF card is to be used as a hard drive replacement, it can first be connected to the IDE controller in your PC and set up completely in WinUAE before removing it and installing it in the Amiga.

However, the Amiga's IDE and PCMCIA interfaces are fussy about which cards and adapters they will accept, so care must be taken in selecting the right components.
