Amiga extended character set

Can anyone tell me if there's a quick and dirty way to access an extended character set, in particular foreign characters like ÄÖÜäöüß, ÁÀÇÉÈáàâçéèê, ÃÑÕãñ, etc. from the Amiga Workbench or Shell without altering my language settings, please?

I have various Workbench and AmigaDOS manuals, but nothing is mentioned concerning this.

I am trying to reconstruct a corrupt lzx archive containing a multinational Amiga application and consequerntly some files have foreign characters in their filenames.

Any help with this would really be appreciated!

Thanks for looking.
