Press the buttons/move the stick as fast as you can. The buttons press should give you a permanent red flashing. With the CP USB you notice some fluctuations. Just like in the stick movements with the cross. I've compared this with my Sega Saturn USB pad, no lags.
To be fair, I did not find this test conclusive until I compared its performance with that of a cheap PS2-type USB joypad. The latter was lightning-fast and put the Competion Pro to shame.
But, then again, I am hardly an experienced gamer...
