It's good to hear from you again even if it's not good news yet.

Don't be too discouraged by what you have read about Seagate drives. In my experience, they are among the best you can get and, significantly in this case, I've never had a problem with *any* hard drive that wasn't solved, at least for long enough to recover data from the drive, by replacing the drive electronics pcb (though the circumstances of your drive's 'failure' are somewhat unusual, admittedly )

Chin up! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the replacement board from Hong Kong does the trick when it arrives!
